Happy Birthday dA!! :dalove:

My deviantART story started a little more than three years ago. I had stumbled over dA because some of the artists I followed on German art sites had profiles here, like Papaya-Style, algenpfleger and janaschi. Somehow I ended up browsing artworks on dA more often than on the German sites, but I was a little too shy to make an account here, because I felt my work wasn't good enough. I did create an account eventually, but at first only uploaded photography. :shifty:

After dwelling in the shadows for a few months I discovered that one could get involved in groups, and decided to help out in a few of them. Admining in groups was my gate to getting involved in the community at large. I was an admin in many groups, but my two most favourite groups are

:iconprojectcomment: and :icondawishingwell:.

Through ProjectComment I met such awesome and inspiring people like Astrikos and 3wyl, and working there was a really important part of my dA life. And gosh, dAWishingWell. This group and the people I met and friendships I forged there - I can't imagine what I would be without them. MamaLantiis, SavageFrog, TheGalleryOfEve, Stygma, rainylake, PizzaPotatoNBacon, Endorell-Taelos, DeviBrigard, DMD-CT - you are all absolutely wonderful people.

Some other great people I met over the years are Astralseed, SimplySilent, NotenSMSK, Lintu47, chromeantennae, monstash and many others.

And three very special people I really don't want to miss from my life are cality, astarayel and TeaPhotography. You are the most awesomesauce people ever, and I'm so glad that I'm friends with each of you. My dA experience and, quite frankly put, my whole life wouldn't be the same without you. :tighthug:

I'm here for the people and the art, and with all the amazing art here on dA I found myself quickly inspired and motivated to become a better artist myself. One of my biggest - if not the biggest - inspirations for me has been alicexz from the moment I first laid eyes on her work. The piece below is what got me to really really try to improve my art. I'm still endlessly fascinated by it today.

I have been living a happy dA life so far, with one really crazy thing happening last year, namely, me getting seniority on Dec. 31st. I still look at the medal with wonder. Beta to seniorBut it also motivates me all the more to do my best at supporting the community and helping where I can.

That all being said, deviantART has become very important to me over the years. It's such a wonderful and creative place, and it's an endless source of inspiration to me - and that not only in the artistic sense. I guess one could say I came for the art and stayed for the art and the people.
